Musings of a 7 year old... Part 2

Okay... So, after Scratch I think I pretty much had my heart set on growing up to be a comic book artist. At the time of course, I wasn't at all aware of the actual level of time and effort that went into producing sequential art on a regular basis... I was seven years old! Anyways, these were the strips that followed, and looking over them I can't help but laugh at the idea of Dolphins using hearing-aids as deadly weapons and gangsters named Jeffrey!

Strip 1 :  'Deep' - Two dolphins drink some mystery chemical in the sea and become man/dolphin hybrids... They use their new found powers to... Uh, kill...

Strip 2 :  'Deep 2' - Yup, it even got it's own sequel! As a child I once adopted a Dolphin through the WDCS and this strip might be the result of reading about 

how they were becoming extinct due to mass pollution...

Strip 3 :  'Sivo' - I think a caricature of Sly Stallone went a bit wrong and became my first ever attempt at a mob comic, Sivo was the mysterious crime-lord of the tale...

Strip 4 :  'Untitled Greek Mythology Project' - As you can see from my brainstorm I tried very hard to modernize the tales of Medusa and friends into one big adventure story.

All I really remember is the move from pencil to ink.

I can't really call this next one a strip as it's only one page, but it was an idea I remember having about monsters who feasted on peoples hearts, the man was based on a teacher I had at the time (and obviously wasn't very fond of...).

Digging through my old stuff led to another nostalgic discovery... So here I present the artwork of an eight year old Nathan Anthony Joseph in all it's glory!

... And who could forget such classic as The Claw-Maker! Or, Mike Machine-Gun!

Just think what he could have achieved had he stuck at the art game...

These days however, an adult Nathan spends his time reminiscing about drinking in fields...

Musings of a 7 year old... Part 1

Here's a trip down memory lane, I place myself at around 7 years old only because the first two strips I composed are based on Madness songs (one of the first albums I remember owning was Divine Madness, which was released in 1992). I was always fond of Scratch as a character and as you can see from the last two images, I have revisited him a couple of times since... So don't be surprised if he pops up on here sometime soon!

Back-Tracking Across The Universe...

Okay, so I've been digging up most of my salvageable works, dating back to roughly around 1996 (me being 10 years old at the time). I've managed to dig up plenty of memories and laughable attempts at being creative along the way so I figure I'll share them here online for all to see.
I wish I could say I was going to post this stuff in some sort of chronological order but in the time it would take to sift through everything I'll be old and grey.

So, for my first posting, here's a few pages I found inside an old jotter - guessing; I would say the last of this pads entries were drawn around 2003 based on the style and design of the Ninja Turtles. All other entries I place at before 2002 (making me either 15 or 16 at the time).

Let's get this party started with some good old-fashioned animation from way back when (2007) with my University show-reel... W00t!
